Derailed (Work in Progress)

Green River, Utah sits on Interstate 70 in eastern Utah, close to the Colorado border. Most travelers pass through without stopping for anything beyond gas, food, or a place to sleep before moving on somewhere else. Derailed is a documentary project exploring the people who stay. Built around relationships formed over repeated visits, the work centers on Faron, a lifelong resident who has become a guide to the town and a friend. Through him and the people he has introduced me to, I am trying to understand what holds a person to a place that the rest of the world keeps driving past. This project is ongoing.
