The Divide is an ongoing documentary project set in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, a town of extraordinary natural beauty, carved by canyon walls and framed by snowcapped peaks, where the Colorado River runs cold and the hot springs have drawn visitors for over a century. But Glenwood Springs, like so many mountain towns across the American West, has changed. Wealth has moved in, land values have soared, and the people who built these communities, who worked the land and kept the lights on, find themselves pushed to the edges of the place they've always called home. Having lived here for nearly two years, I've come to know both sides of that line. This project is an attempt to sit with that tension honestly, not to resolve it, but to witness it. The landscape doesn't play favorites. The economy does.
